What we source
Tell us the car. We will tell you if it can be done.
We source both new and used vehicles from the UK market. The range is wide — but Mauritian registration rules determine which vehicles are eligible for import. We check eligibility before the search starts, whether the car is factory-fresh or pre-owned.
Used vehicle examples
Cars available now, inside the import windowThese are real cars on the UK market at the time of writing, all right-hand drive and all inside the 18–48 month window. They are not our stock — they are the kind of thing we would go and get on your instruction, and a fair picture of what the money buys.

| Car | As specified | Excise band |
|---|---|---|
| Porsche 911 Carrera 4S, 2022 | 3.0 turbo petrol, PDK, 4WD | 100% |
| Range Rover Sport D300, 2023 | 3.0 diesel mild hybrid, Dynamic SE | 75% |
| Mercedes-Benz S 580e L, 2025 | 3.0 plug-in hybrid, long wheelbase | 55% |
| BMW 520i M Sport Pro, 2024 | 2.0 petrol mild hybrid | 55% |
| Range Rover Sport P400e, 2022 | 2.0 plug-in hybrid, HSE Dynamic | 35% |
| BMW i5 eDrive40, 2025 | Electric, 250 kW | 25% |
Look at the two BMWs. A 520i and an i5 eDrive40 — similar money, same showroom, a month apart in age. One lands in the 55% band and the other in the 25%. Nothing about the car chooses that. The powertrain does.
This is the conversation worth having before the search starts rather than after, and it is the reason we ask early whether an electric or plug-in equivalent would be acceptable to you.
The bands are set by the MRA and are based on engine capacity and powertrain type. They do not change with the price of the car.
AvailabilityIndividual cars sell. Treat these as a picture of the market rather than a list to order from — tell us the specification and we will find the current equivalent.
What has to be true
Before a car is worth pursuingFour things decide whether a car can be brought in at all, and a fifth — the duty band — significantly affects the landed cost. We check all five before you commit to anything, so there are no surprises later in the process.
If a car fails on the rules, that is the end of it. If it fails on the arithmetic, we will usually be able to suggest a specification that does not.
Between 18 and 48 months old at shipment — second-hand cars
Right-hand drive
Import permit obtained before the vessel sails
Pre-shipment inspection certificate
Engine capacity and powertrain type determine the excise band, which can move the landed figure significantly. We walk you through the options early.
When to buy, for duty
The MRA depreciation scaleFor a second-hand car the MRA does not tax your invoice. It assesses its own value: a reference price from an approved guide — HPI, Parkers or Glass’s — reduced by 9% for the first month of use and 1% for each month after, to a maximum of 50%.
The cap is reached at 42 months. From there to the 48-month limit the assessed value stops falling while the car keeps getting cheaper in the UK market — so the last six months of the window are the worst value for duty purposes, and the sweet spot is usually a car around three to three-and-a-half years old.
| Age at assessment | Reduction |
|---|---|
| 12 months | 20% |
| 18 months — earliest import age | 26% |
| 24 months | 32% |
| 30 months | 38% |
| 36 months | 44% |
| 42 months — cap reached | 50% |
| 48 months — edge of the window | 50% |
When we decline
Before your money moves| What we find | Why it ends the search |
|---|---|
| Corrosion through a structural panel | Cosmetic rust is a negotiating point. Corrosion through the metal is not repairable at a price that makes sense. |
| Undisclosed structural repair | A replaced wing is nothing. A repaired structural member that the seller did not mention tells you what else was not mentioned. |
| Mileage that will not reconcile | Where the odometer cannot be matched to the national record, we treat the reading as unknown and walk. |
| Finance, lien or a title problem | Anything outstanding against the vehicle in its country of registration stops the process entirely. |
| A duty band past your ceiling | Not a fault in the car. It simply means the landed figure will not be what you wanted, and we say so before you commit. |
